There are two things in life that I'm passionate about, shoes and writing. Combining both of my passions with my designing degree, I write forShoePeeps to help readers pick the best work boots, have fun.

Clogs, also known as Crocs, are trendy, especially among youth. Many wear them because they are comfortable and are said to be good for your feet. But are they? Let’s take a closer look at crocs and whether or not they’re good for your feet.

So are Crocs safe for your feet?

Crocs are shoes that have a mixed reputation. But despite their mixed reputation, there is no denying that these shoes are super comfortable and highly functional. And if you’re looking for a shoe to slip on quickly for a quick errand, Crocs are certainly an option.

However, it’s essential to be aware of their drawbacks. For starters, they are not exceptionally stylish. In fact, Crocs are famous for inciting positive reactions, both positive and negative.

But, Crocs are not designed to be worn for long periods, so if you’re going to be on your feet all day, it’s best to opt for a different shoe. Nevertheless, Crocs can be a helpful addition to your shoe collection – just don’t expect them to replace your favorite pair of sneakers soon.

What do podiatrists say about Crocs?

According to the APMA president, Crocs are suitable to wear for short periods as they are lighter than other footwear. He further stated that Crocs have a wider and spacious toe box that allows easy and proper foot movement. Not only this but Crocs are also suitable for users with bone deformities like bunions and hammertoe.

According to some podiatrists, Crocs are also ideal for diabetic patients. This is because people with diabetes do not have proper blood circulation, especially in their feet. Hence they are more prone to sores and infection. The big and spacious toe box and trustworthy antibacterial properties of Crocs can efficiently prevent these issues.

Why Crocs are Good for your feet

Various reasons and factors make Crocs safe for your feet. Some of the reasons are given below:

Lightweight

Crocs are the kind of shoes that divide opinion. Some people love them for their comfort and style, while others can’t stand their tacky appearance. However, there’s no denying that they’re incredibly lightweight.

Crocs are made from a durable and lightweight material called Croslite, an EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate). The simple foaming process makes this footwear much lighter than traditional footwear, making them perfect if you’re going to be on your feet for a while.

Moreover, this innovative material also makes them highly comfortable. So, if you’re looking for a pair of shoes that won’t weigh you down, Crocs are worth considering.

Superb Comfort

Let’s face it: Crocs are not that pleasant. They are a bit flashy, clunky, and available in an insane variety of colors and designs. And yet, for all their flaws, Crocs have a certain strange appeal. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re so light and comfortable, or perhaps it’s the fact that they can be easily slipped on and off.

Whatever the reason, Crocs have become a surprisingly popular shoe, and now you will see Crocs in the tough and demanding industries.

Furthermore, the American Podiatric Medical Association has now listed Crocs as an acceptable and approved shoe to wear.

So the next time you see someone wearing a pair of Crocs, don’t judge them too harshly. After all, you might just be tempted to buy a pair yourself.

High Breathability

The elevated dots, or “moles,” form a unique design that looks unique and also serves a purpose. These moles also promote consistent airflow and allow water to drain quickly, making the Croc an ideal summer shoe.

In addition, the moles provide a massaging effect as you walk, giving your feet a little extra pampering. So there you have it: the Crocs Classic Clog is not only stylish but also functional.

Simple Cleaning

As the Crocs are waterproof, hence no problem in cleaning them. All you will need to clean Crocs is household soap and water. This means no special cleaning agents, brushes, or polishes to clean and reinstate their pre-spill glory.

Affordable

Compared with the other footwear types, Crocs are much more affordable. You can get a new pair of Crocs in much less than a pair of Bostons.

Things to Consider

Despite all these advantages, there are some vital things to know before making the final purchase.

Unpleasant Style

While Crocs are much more affordable and they will not break your bank account, but they might cost you your valuable reputation. Recently I came across this helpful article by the Washington Post that compares Crocs with the ‘chopped garden shoes.’

While reading the post, I found this lovely Facebook group about Crocs. The FB group has around one million users united against Crocs.

You cannot Resole Crocs

Yes, it is true you cannot take your Crocs to the cobber for resoling. Remember, Crocs don’t feature a Goodyear-welted shoe that you can resole. You will have to buy another pair if any wear or tear happens.

They are Old

Chris Black from New York Times says that clogs are “played out.” After all, the shoes have been around for a decade and have been popular with various audiences. However, there’s something to be said for a shoe that has such staying power.

In a world where fads come and go, it’s refreshing to know that there’s at least one style that has stood the test of time. And while some may argue that clogs are no longer relevant and tired in the fashion world.

Doctor’s Doubt

Despite these positive features and being officially approved by the APMA, Crocs are not endorsed by all podiatrists. Some doctors have different opinions about Crocs that you need to know.

According to some podiatrists, Crocs are well-designed and extraordinarily lightweight and will not twist or bend while walking. However, the doctors don’t recommend wearing them for long all-day. As per some well-known podiatrists, Crocs are not made for all-day uses.

Plus, these shoes don’t offer adequate heel support, which is essential when you need to walk or stand all day long.

However, crocs are ideal for indoor and home uses, but you will feel them uncomfortable when wearing for a long time.

Are Crocs suitable for wearing all day?

It’s no secret that Crocs are the shoes of choice for many people who want to slip on something comfortable and have no regard for fashion. But doctors who specialize in feet do not endorse Crocs for all-day uses.

The reason?

They lack foot support, especially in the heel area, which may result in severe foot pain and even some posture.

So if you’re looking for a shoe that you can wear all day without pain, you might want to steer clear of Crocs. Unless, of course, you’re just using them to run to the grocery store quickly or take out the trash. In that case, they’re probably fine.

Crocs are not the best choice if you spend most of your day on your feet. However, if you are just walking to the nearby grocery store or walking with your pet, then Crocs are fine. Never wear Crocs all day long.

So, Should You Buy Crocs?

Should you buy Crocs? It depends. Are you looking for a fashionable shoe? No. Crocs are goofy, and they will never be in style. But that doesn’t mean that Crocs are not handy. To be honest, Crocs are highly comfortable, entirely waterproof, and easy to slip on.

Crocs are the finest choice if you’re looking for footwear that efficiently and quickly gets the job done. Plus, they are available in more than 30 colors, so you can easily find a pair that suits your needs. So, if utility is what you’re after, Crocs are worth considering. But if you’re looking for a stylish shoe, you’d best look elsewhere.
