Comfort

Merrell Men Moab 2

We all know the feeling of setting out on a hike only to realize halfway up the trail that our shoes are not up to the task. But with the Moab 2 Mid, you can confidently hike, knowing that your footwear won’t be the weak link. These shoes are comfortable and versatile, ready to take on any terrain.

Furthermore, the thick padding provides adequate support for your feet and ankles, while the lacing system keeps your foot secure without being overly complicated. And when you’re done with your hike, you can slip them off and enjoy the rest of your day.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with the support and comfort of these Merrell Moab 2 hiking boots and would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable pair of hiking boots.

Stability

The Moab 2 Mid may be lower to the ground than your average hiking boot, but it doesn’t sacrifice stability. The supportive and well-designed keeps you stable and guards against sharp rocks or roots. Apart from it, I also like the heel guard’s construction and security and the laces’ traditionalism.

That is, there is no loose sloshing between foot and boot, which can lead to blisters. In short, this boot provides all the support and protection you need for a day on the trail.

Upper

The suede-and-mesh upper of this hiking boot is deceptively light yet provides substantial support for your ankles. Padding around the ankle keeps the boot snug, while the mesh body breathes well on hot days. The boots are also surprisingly comfortable, thanks to their EVA midsoles.

I can attest to their durability, as I’ve worn them on pretty rugged terrain without any issues. Overall, these are great boots for hikes of all levels.

Toe Area

To be honest, I never understood the appeal and look of hiking boots. I have always found them so stiff and constricting like they would pinch your toes and rub your heels raw within minutes. But then I tried on a pair of Moab 2s, and my whole perspective changed.

The toe box is generous enough to accommodate wider feet (which mine most definitely are), and even when I’m wearing thick socks, my toes don’t feel cramped. The heel fits snugly but doesn’t dig in, and the boot provides good flexibility while walking.

These Moab 2 by Merrell are comfortable, stylish, and kind of fun to wear. So if you’re on the fence about whether or not to give them a try, do yourself a favor and take the plunge. You won’t regret it.

Outsoles

Regarding hiking boots, I think it’s safe to say Merrell knows what they’re doing. The brand has been around for decades, and its iconic first model set the standard for a quality hiking boot. With that said, I was pleased to see they’ve stuck with the same Vibram rubber for the sole of this Merrell Moab 2 hiking boots.

In my opinion, this is one of the best materials for a hiking boot sole because it strikes the perfect balance between rigidity and flexibility.

This means you get the support you need without sacrificing comfort or feeling disconnected from the ground beneath you. Not to mention, the soles have excellent grip and stickiness, which comes in handy when you’re scrambling over rocks or loose surfaces.

I think Merrell has made another great choice with the sole of their latest hiking boot.

Water Resistance

The Moab 2 Mid is a boot that’s been around for a while and has developed a cult following. It’s known for being comfortable right out of the box, having great traction, and being tough enough to handle just about any trail. But one thing it’s not known for is being waterproof.

When we first saw the suede and mesh upper, we were skeptical that it would provide any protection.

However, we were pleasantly surprised when we took them out on the trail. We walked through creeks and came out with dry feet on the other side. The bellows tongue also did a great job of keeping water out. Even if some water penetrated through the upper, my socks were dry.

Weight

The Moab 2 Mid hits the sweet spot between durability and weight, making them a great choice for your next hike. However, this pair of hiking boots is ideal if you are searching for something truly lightweight.

They clock in at just under 2.5 pounds, which is heavier than other models on the market. But if you can handle a little extra weight, the Moab 2 Mids will provide plenty of comfort and protection on your next adventure.

My Personal Experience with Merrell Men Mob 2 hiking boots:

If you think whether these Merrell MOAB 2 Mid Waterproof are worth your hard-earned cash or not, here is the answer. I can tell you from personal experience that these boots are definitely worth the investment. I’ve used mine for several months, and they’ve held up beautifully to all kinds of abuse. I’ve worn them on paved roads and rough woodland trails, and they’ve never let me down.

The sole is extremely supportive and comfortable, even after hours of walking. And the best part is that the rubber bottom shows very little wear, even after countless miles of use. So if you’re looking for a boot that will provide lasting comfort and durability, the Merrell MOAB 2 Mid Waterproof is definitely worth your consideration.

Things to Consider:

After a long day of hiking, the last thing you want is to take your boots off and find that your socks are soaked with sweat. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what I found when I tested the Merrell Moab 2 hiking boots. While they did a good job of keeping our feet protected from rocks and roots, I didn’t find them highly breathable.

I hiked in them for about twenty – Twenty-five minutes warm spring day, and my feet started to sweat. However, there were no blisters, so at the end of the day, I was able to walk (albeit uncomfortably) in these waterproof hiking boots.

If you plan to spend some time outside in hot conditions, I recommend you buy a different pair of hiking boots.
